Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the mulberries, sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract (if using).
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture begins to simmer.
  3. Continue to cook for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the jam thickens slightly.
  4. Remove from heat and let it cool before transferring to clean jars.
  5. Store in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks or process in a water bath for long-term storage.

Notes

You can serve mulberry jam on toast, pancakes, or as a dessert topping. It can also be mixed into yogurt or oatmeal for added flavor. For longer storage, process the jars in a water bath.
