Ingredients
Method
Cooking the Bacon
- In a skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove from the skillet, crumble it, and set aside.
Browning the Beef
- Drain most of the bacon grease, leaving about 1 tablespoon. Add the ground beef, onion, and garlic to the skillet. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Stir in the smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Combine Ingredients
- Lower the heat and stir in the softened cream cheese until it melts into the beef mixture. Add the crumbled bacon back into the mixture. Spread this mix evenly in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
Prepare Egg Mixture
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, mustard, and ketchup (if using). Stir in half the cheddar cheese and half the mozzarella cheese.
Assemble and Bake
- Pour the egg mixture over the beef layer in the baking dish. Top with the remaining cheeses.
- Place the dish in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25–30 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden.
Serving
- Let the casserole cool slightly before slicing. Garnish with pickles or parsley if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, you can add in some chopped bell peppers or mushrooms to the beef mixture. Make sure to cook the bacon until it is crispy to ensure it stays crunchy after baking. Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese based on your preference.
