Preparation of Burger Patties
- Shape the ground beef into burgers.
- Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat and add the burger patties to the skillet.
- Turn the heat down to medium and let them cook undisturbed for about 5 to 7 minutes.
- Flip the burgers over and cook for another 5 to 7 minutes, adjusting time based on patty size.
- Once done, drain excess grease.
Preparation of Mushroom Gravy
- In a separate nonstick skillet, heat butter over medium-high heat.
- Add sliced mushrooms and lower heat to medium, sauté until golden brown.
- When mushrooms are nearly done, add crushed garlic.
- Add cream cheese, cream, onion powder, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Stir until cream cheese melts.
- Mix in gruyere cheese until melted.
- Finally, stir in sour cream and water or broth until well combined.
- Pour sauce over the burgers and heat through for a few more minutes.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container. Reheat in a skillet or microwave before serving.
