Topping
  • 1 cup rolled oats Consider gluten-free oats for a gluten-free version.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar Adjust based on the sweetness of berries.
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Optional spice mix for added flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the mulberries with a bit of sugar if desired, and spread them in a greased baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, and salt to create a crumbly topping.
  4. Evenly sprinkle the oat mixture over the mulberries.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the mulberries are bubbly.
Serving
  1. Serve warm, optionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

For added flavor, try mixing in some chopped nuts or shredded coconut into the oat topping. You can prepare the topping in advance and assemble it with the berries just before baking.
