  • 1/4 cup chopped onions
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt (optional) Adds creaminess to the dish.
  • Chopped cilantro for garnish Use fresh cilantro for best flavor.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
  3. Add onions and garlic, cooking until softened.
  4. Stir in cumin, chili powder, salt, and pepper.
  5. Remove from heat and mix in salsa and half of the shredded cheese.
Assembly
  1. In a baking dish, spread a layer of the beef mixture.
  2. Top with a layer of remaining cheese and sour cream, if using.
Cooking
  1. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and cheese is melted.
  2. Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 2 months. Add extra toppings like avocado or jalapeños for extra flavor. You can customize the filling by adding low-carb vegetables.
