Preparation
- Add the flour to a medium bowl and combine it with the baking powder. If you want extra flavor, add a pinch of salt.
- Make a well in the center of the flour and add the cottage cheese. Use a fork or small rubber spatula to mix the dough until it forms a chunky consistency.
- Turn the bagel dough onto a well-floured surface. Knead it with your hands for 1-2 minutes until it becomes a semi-smooth ball.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 6-7 inch log that is about 3/4 inch thick, then connect the ends to form a bagel.
Baking
- In a small bowl, crack the egg and whisk it with a splash of water or milk. Brush the egg over each bagel.
- Preheat the air fryer to 300°F. Spray or line the air fryer basket with cooking spray or parchment paper. Place the bagels in the basket in an even layer.
- Cook the bagels for 15-17 minutes until they are golden brown and fluffy, checking around 10 minutes and continuing to cook as needed.
Serving
- Let the bagels cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
Store any leftover bagels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Experiment with different toppings to keep things interesting!
